All d4100e PCs include Microsoft Windows XP with Windows XP Service Pack 2, with Advanced Security Technologies, which helps protect you from viruses, hackers, and worms.

When you customize a d4100e, you choose from three Windows XP operating systems:

Windows XP Home for complete home computing functionality--includes wireless connections, Windows Firewall, and privacy support to help you control personal information while online
Windows XP Media Center 2005 for organizing and managing photos, music, movies, and more; this option also lets you add a remote control
Windows XP Professional, which is recommended for offices; it has an encrypting file system to protect sensitive data

Scale from everyday multimedia to high-definition 3-D gaming
The advanced, dual-core technology in the AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor eliminates the bottlenecks found in many PC processors, letting you do more, faster¹. You can run multiple programs simultaneously--rip and burn CDs, download photos, or edit video while watching TV, e-mailing your friends, or surfing the Web--without slowing down your d4100e.

Turn TV time into your time
Each d4100e model offers an optional PCI TV tuner card with personal video recorder (PVR) functionality, which lets you record individual shows and entire series, plus pause and rewind live TV. Upgrading to the dual tuner lets you watch and record two programs at once². Add a remote to control your content from up to 10' away.

Treat your eyes to gorgeous graphics
PCI Express, the latest generation of graphics cards, takes viewing a step beyond. And the d4100e's x16 PCI Express slot provides up to twice the bandwidth of AGP 8X.

Add silkscreen-quality graphics, photos, and text to CDs and DVDs
The optional HP DVD writer with HP's new LightScribe technology lets you burn precise, professional-looking labels directly on LightScribe-enabled media, straight from your PC. After burning a disc, you just flip it over and reinsert in the same drive for labeling.

The d4100e offers 7200 rpm Serial ATA drives with up to 400GB'. Or add a FastTrak Serial ATA RAID card (bundled with two Serial ATA hard drives; 80GB' or 160GB'). You choose between two configuration options ("RAID levels") that optimize your PC to different degrees.

Load up on high-capacity, portable storage
For on-the-go storage, you'll want the new HP Personal Media Drive, a second, removable hard drive that fits in the d4100e chassis or can be used externally with another PC via USB 2.0. Pop it in your d4100e, load it up with digital files, and take it along.

Organize your photo collection
You'll download photos fast with the optional 9-in-1 digital media card reader. And digital photography is easy with HP's Image Zone software, which helps you manage, edit, share, print, and preserve your snapshots.
