MDofPC Support Software Instructions

We have several types of downloadable software on our site, so we have put together a set of instructions. To make good use of these instructions it is best to determine which type of download you have purchased. The three types are listed below.

1. Executable Support (.exe) This is any download that ends in .exe

This is the easiest type of download to use and install. You should have received a email with download instructions and those instructions should have contained a download link. You can click that link to begin download, you will be given two choices.

1. Open to install or Save to have a Backup

If you cannot find the download link try to locate the download address, it will look like: http://www.mdofpc.com/Downloads/

If you do find this address copy and paste this address into your browser.

2. Zipped Support (.zip) This is any download that ends in .zip

This is a little more difficult than a executable download. You should have received an email with download instructions and those instructions should have contained a download link. You can click that link to begin download, you will be given two choices; 1. open (install) or 2. save (backup). We recommend that you choose save at this step, this will allow you to save the zipped file to your desktop. We recommend saving the file on your desktop for convenience. Once you have downloaded the file you will need to locate it on your desktop and double click to open it. There are two common ways to extract the files.

1. WinZip (available for free download at our free downloads page)

If you have winzip installed it should open and allow you to extract to a folder, you should create a temporary folder an example would be C:Downloads . Once you have extracted the files you will need to locate the folder you created and run setup.exe (unless instructions specify otherwise, such as CD image)

Once you have your zipped file downloaded, open up Win Zip and you will see this screen:

Click on the Next button and this is the next screen you will see:

The file you downloaded may appear in this list and if it does, just click on it and then click on the Next button to proceed. But, if your zip file does not appear on the list - click on the Search button to find your zip file. This will be the next window that will open up:

Choose Let me find it (not automatic) and click on Ok. And you will get this window:

You then proceed through your folders until you find the folder where you have stored your zip file and double click on your folder.

When you find your zipped file double click on it and you will now come to this screen:

Now click on the Next button and you will see a screen with a box asking if you want to add this folder to your favorite zip folders - you can choose either Yes or No. What this question is asking is if you want to add the folder where you have stored your zip file to your favorite zip folders. For this tutorial, we chose no because we did not want our file to be unzipped into a new folder. We want to unzip our file into a folder we have already created.

Now you can choose the folder where you want to store this file.

If you want to store the unzipped contents at the folder that is in the Selected folder box, then just click Unzip Now. But if you want your files stored elsewhere, click the Select different folder button. Sometimes you may have folders set up where you wish certain contents to be saved. And if that is the case, you have the ability with Winzip to place it in the folder of your choice.

Once you have determined the folder where you want to store your unzipped file contents, click Ok.

Then the following box will appear:

Now click Unzip Now and your file contents will unzip to the folder where your files are to be stored.

2. Windows Compression Manager (windows xp default)

If you do not have winzip installed you can still extact the files. You can locate the file and double click it to open and view contents. After you have opened the file go to File at the top left of the window and choose extract files. You need to specify a folder to extract the files to an example would be C:Downloads . Once you have extracted the files you will need to locate the folder you created and run setup.exe (unless instructions specify otherwise, such as CD image)

3. CD Image (May come in a zipped file format)

If your download is a cd image, this means that the download requires the cd to play or install properly. We provide the download instructions and program to burn the cd, to complete these steps you will need a high speed internet connection (cable or dsl) and a cd burner.

The first step would be to download the file and save it to your desktop. Then extract the files contents to a folder such as C:Downloads. Once you have extracted the files to a folder then you will need to install alcohol 120% to burn the cd. Your download instructions should have instructions for downloading alcohol 120%.

Once you have Alcohol 120% installed you will need to choose burning wizard and then locate the files that you have extracted. Then click next and insert a blank cdr and it will burn your disk for you.

Step: 1
Install Alcohol 120%, you may download it below:

MDofPC

Step: 2
Start Alcohol 120%. Than click on Image Burning Wizard. Marked in the red box in the screenshot below.

Step: 3
The image burning wizard will start. Click on browse to find the image on your hard disk you want to burn. After clicking on open, Alcohol 120% will open the image and display some info about the image. Click next to continue.

Step: 4
In this screen you can select your burner if you have more than one. You can also set the burning speed. Burning at a low speed is recommended. You don't need to change the other settings with the images from our site! After choosing your burner and burning speed, click on start to burn your image.
